You know you’re already thinking about it--Spring Break is just around the corner. Well, while you sit in the office dreaming about where you might be come March, why not feed your mind with a bit of outdoor inspiration? For your viewing pleasure, we’ve compiled a list of the best spring break adventure destinations.
We all know about the “favorite” destinations (think Vegas, Miami, Cancun, etc. etc. ...boring!). When we think spring break, we think an excuse to go exploring. Here are a few of our favorite outdoor adventure spots for 2018.
Grand Canyon National Park
While it might be on the cooler side, in the early days of Spring, The Grand Canyon will still be totally worth the trip. Cooler temperatures tends to mean less crowds at this popular destination spot, so all the more time for reflecting (and some great, solo photo opps). By the way, it’s ok to cry when you see it for the first time ;)
Volcanic Crater, Maui, Hawaii
Need some quality island time but not looking for just another beach vacation? Head for the Hawaiian islands. Though still part of the US, Hawaii brings the perfect amount of exoticism for a true voyager's escape. We recommend Maui (although there’s not a bad island in the bunch). With daytime temps in the upper 70s to lower 80s through March, well it’s simply breathtaking. Plus there’s nothing like seeing the sun set (or rise) from the top of Mt. Haleakala at Volcanic Crater--be prepared with a camera and wear your hiking boots!
Portland strikes a perfect balance between an adventure-seeker's paradise and some good old-fashioned, urban fun. Especially if you don’t have the full week to travel. There are tons of delicious food trucks, charming local boutiques, live music venues, and a healthy dose of offbeat activities for the child at heart (think dance-party style group bike rides and unique ice cream hangout spots). And within just a short drive from the city, there’s lush, rugged hiking and some stunning, remote scenery in just about every direction.
Acadia National Park, Maine
When you think spring break, you may not think to head for the Northeast, and that’s exactly why we love Acadia National Park. If you’re looking to stay off the beaten path, this park is a perfect choice. It might seem a bit soggy at first, but the fog makes for some added fun (let the lighthouses guide you). Take some camping gear and get in a few good nights under the stars.
Park City, Utah
Spring break isn’t always about escaping winter’s furry. Sometimes it’s about making the most of it. Looking to catch a few more runs before season’s end? Head to Park City. It’s a beautiful little ski town with some incredible slopes. Added bonus: the drive from the airport to the resort is painless! If you have some time to spare, check out Salt Lake City while you’re in the area.
So Where Will You Be This Spring Break 2018?
You’re armed with inspiration, now it’s time to plan. Put those daydreams into motion. Oh, and while you vacation, do us a favor and repay the inspiration with some adventure shots of your own ;)
